Random Thoughts #7 - the "end of September" edition

I've been on a blogging frenzy lately, probably because I feel like I've had a lot to say and want to get a lot out. I hope you enjoy my crazy, wacky, and sometimes inspirational thoughts because I have more for you right abooooouuuuuttttt....NOW!!!

 -  I hope you like my new profile pic. I've been looking to get one with me dressed up a bit and I'm happy with this one....now to lose that gut of mine (wishful thinking for now). Thank you Cara for taking the pic for me...I really appreciate it.

 -  I celebrate the 5-year anniversary last Saturday at the OC with several people from my crew. I was hoping for a bigger turnout, but I think I got the event invites out a bit late for people to actually plan on coming. I would have gotten them out earlier if I had actually remembered the anniversary of that trip earlier. Still, the crew and I had a great time overall. Me, Dave, Griff, Jay, Cara, and many others kicked it and got down with our bad selves. I dressed up a bit so I could get pics for the profile. I "pimped" it up for a bit, according to those at the club, and for some odd reason I didn't mind. Anyway, I didn't have any pics that had me dressed up and now I do, so I thank my "cuz" Cara for those pics.

 -  Trivia question: when was the last time the phrase "get down with your bad self" actually relevant? Seriously, I don't know...

 -  It's been about a year since I dated a woman (geez, time goes by quick). Pray for me for good things on this front because, quite frankly, I need some prayer and the last girl I dated....well, things didn't work out, so I want something and someone better this time. Maybe when I get some things settled such as my job situation and potential volunteer stuff, I'll get back to this. Until then, pray for me.

 -  Speaking of my job situation, aside from my temp stuff I'm gonna be taking several civil service exams this month. I'm hoping that one of those prospects pans out for me. Good jobs are scarce at this time, so I'm crossing my fingers and knocking on wood here.

 -  My church has changed the online service we use to broadcast online. We are now on Mogulus at "www.mogulus.com". If interested in watching recorded services or live ones (Sunday evenings @ approximately 7:30), just got to the Crossroads website "http://www.crossroadswcc.org/" and click the Live Broadcast link in the menu. We have a few of the past month's services online and we finally fixed the audio problems, so it's good to go. Better yet, just go to services...it's more fun and inspirational in person.

 -  IF YOU ARE REGISTERED TO VOTE IN OHIO: early voting starts tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 30). You can go to your county's designated voting place and vote early. You can still register to vote until the 6th of October, so don't forget to register if you haven't done so. In Franklin County (Columbus and surrounding cities), the early voting place is at Vet's Memorial on Broad Street. If anybody needs more info about voting or stuff, let me know and I'll try to help.

 -  I'm glad I'm getting out of the political stuff for now. I'm not sure that I can be effective in that arena at this time and I'm not feeling too terribly fulfilled by it, though the Obama rally was great. I'm not saying I'm closing it off entirely for this election cycle, but right now I'm just not feeling it. Heck, I didn't even get into the last big election cycle (2006, the gubernatorial one) until about two weeks before that election, so who knows. At this point though, it's a no go for me.

 -  Thank God the Browns won yesterday. It would have been embarassing to lose to a down and out team like the Bengals.

 -  The Buckeyes didn't look too shabby on Saturday. Unless there's a big dropoff of teams like last year, I don't think the Bucks are going to back into the national championship game this year. If they win outright and earn it, cool...otherwise, it might be nice to see them in the Rose Bowl this year.

Okay, that's all I got percolating in my head for now. I may start doing some creative type blogs as well as my random thought ones. Until next time, America (Oh God....I just used a Maury Povich line...just shoot me now!).  Take care and God Bless.
